Mini stadium for Pithapuram on cards
MLA NVSN Varma on Sunday said that a mini stadium will be built in the town at a cost of Rs 3 crore for hosting state-level and district-level sports and games competitions.
Pithapuram: MLA NVSN Varma on Sunday said that a mini stadium will be built in the town at a cost of Rs 3 crore for hosting state-level and district-level sports and games competitions.
Speaking after distributing prizes among winners of karate and boxing competitions at the concluding ceremony held here on Sunday, Varma said that suitable site has been identified for mini stadium and construction work would begin soon.
Municipal Chairman Karanam Chinna Rao, councillors’ P Ganga Bhavani, Reddem Bhaskar Rao, AV Krishnam Raju, Upendra and event organising president RSY Krishna and coach Lakshmana Rao took part in the programme.
In the seniors’ category GV Rakesh won the gold medal, while the silver medal went to G Ramesh. Prithvi Raj got the bronze medal. In the juniors’ category, N Sivaji won the gold medal, while the silver and bronze medals were bagged by Ch Jyoti Kumar and D Tanuj Kumar.
