The 15th three-day National Inter District Junior Athletics Meet-2017 concluded here on Sunday. Out of 30 events conducted in the meet, the best athlete awards bagged by Bihar, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Telangana State.

Visakhapatnam: The 15th three-day National Inter District Junior Athletics Meet-2017 concluded here on Sunday. Out of 30 events conducted in the meet, the best athlete awards bagged by Bihar, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Telangana State.

The event was conducted in two categories U-14 and U-16 for boys and girls. In boys category- Roushan Kumar U-14 of Bihar adjudged as the best athlete in long jump with 871 points, Srushti Reddy of Maharashtra bagged the best athlete in girls U-14 100 mtrs wing with 834 points, in Boys U-16 long jump category, Anurag of Telangana State adjudged as the best athlete with 884 points, while I Coleshiya of Tamil Nadu bagged the best athlete award with 903 points in U-16 long jump.

The district administration made elaborate arrangements for the 5,000 players arrived from 400 districts across the country. Additional Joint Collector of Visakhapatnam Dr A Siri, chief executive officer of Zilla Parishad Jayaprakash Narayana, district educational officer G Nagamani, Deputy DEO Renuka and District Sports Development Officer June Galliot gave away prizes, medals and cash awards to the winners.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr A Siri congratulated the athletes maintaining discipline during the meet. She thanked the coaches and PETs for cooperating with district administration for making the meet a grand success. As a part of the concluding ceremony, cultural programmes were organised at the venue and the programmes enthralled audience.
