Kurnool: Sympathisers of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) were attacked by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) activists at Kodumur on Monday while they are on their way to see YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy. Several persons from the nearby villages were heading to Kodumur in vehicles to have the glimpse of YSRCP chief, who was having an interaction with the farmers.

On their way to Kodumur, a few TDP activists have pelted stones towards the vehicles. As the vehicles came to standstill, a group consisting of 15 to 20 TDP workers have surrounded the vehicles and demanded them to get down. When they alighted from the vehicles, the group began to attack vehicles indiscriminately, demanding to go back without attending YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s meeting.

When villagers did not heed to their demand, they broke the glasses of the vehicles and attacked them. Even, they dragged out the driver and assaulted him brutally fracturing his hand, despite pleading that he has nothing to do with the meeting as he was only a driver.

Apart from the car driver, the TDP activists also injured other people and threatened them of dire consequences if they attend the meeting. One of the victims said that the Sarpanch of R Konthalapadu village, Sai Krishna, who is a TDP leader is the mastermind behind the attack.

The car driver and others, who sustained injuries were rushed to the Kurnool General Hospital for treatment. The police officials are unaware of the incident as they are busy providing security to YS Jagan’s padayatra.
