Communist Party of India district secretary Jangala Ajay Kumar demanded that the government release water to the farmers in the Nagarjuansagar Right Canal Ayacut area of Guntur district to cultivate rabi crop.
Guntur: Communist Party of India district secretary Jangala Ajay Kumar demanded that the government release water to the farmers in the Nagarjuansagar Right Canal Ayacut area of Guntur district to cultivate rabi crop.
He along with activists, protested at ZP office gate here on Monday to register their protest. The AP Rytu Sangam leaders also participated in the protest. Speaking on this occasion, Ajay Kumar said that due to non-release of water to the NS right canal command area of Guntur district, the farmers cultivated irrigated dry crops and suffered heavy losses and demanded the government to release water at least for rabi.
He said that at present, sufficient water was available in the Nagarjunasagar reservoir in the district and urged the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to take steps to release water for Rabi immediately to extend helping hand to the farmers. He threatened to intensify the agitation if the government failed to help the farmers.
AP Rytu Sangam leaders raised slogans against the government.
