Sandhya Bai and Eswaraiah, who climbed the Mount Everest, were felicitated by Guntur district administration here on Monday. Hailed from a tiny tribal hamlet Siluva Tanda, Eswaraiah is studying Intermediate and Sandhya Bai is pursuing her graduation in Vijayawada.

Guntur: Sandhya Bai and Eswaraiah, who climbed the Mount Everest, were felicitated by Guntur district administration here on Monday. Hailed from a tiny tribal hamlet Siluva Tanda, Eswaraiah is studying Intermediate and Sandhya Bai is pursuing her graduation in Vijayawada.

Both are hails from Veldurthi mandal, Guntur district. Sandhya Bai said that she wants to become an Indian Police Service officer and never imagined that one-day she would climb the Mount Everest. She thanked the State government and her trainers for providing such a rare and great opportunity to climb the Mount Everest. Eswaraiah thanked the officials and coach for their support in reaching the highest peak.

After felicitating them, Collector Kona Sasidhar said that the government would provide drinking water, roads and all other amenities to the hamlets of climbers. He said that pucca houses would be sanctioned for Siluvatanda tribals. He announced both Sandhya Bai and Eswaraiah were life time invitees for the district youth festivals and appealed to youth to take inspiration from them.
