Vijayawada: Nobel laureate and child rights activist Kailash Satyarthi, urged the students to draw inspiration from Vivekananda Youth Association and agitate peacefully to protect rights of children and solve their problems.

He addressed a meeting held at the Tagore Library under the aegis of Vivekananda Youth Association on Monday. Speaking on the theme ‘We will break silence and protect the rights of the children,’ he stressed on the need to know the children of today. They were citizens of tomorrow, he said and expressed serious concern over children being neglected.

He further said that 25 per cent of the children were resorting to or being made child labourers and felt that it was a shame. He expressed concern over increasing atrocities on children.

He said that he would participate in the agitation to be taken up by the Vivekananda Youth Association to solve problems of the children in Amaravathi area in the days to come. He sought the co-operation of the NGOs, association to protect rights of the children.
