Eluru: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president N Tulasi Reddy lamented that due to the inefficiency of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the Polavaram irrigation project was delayed.
He visited Chintalapudi town on Monday and conducted a district-level conference on the projects across river Godavari and its catchment areas. He said the much awaited Polavaram irrigation project could be completed earlier itself.
However, he alleged that the Chief Minister has taken up the national project from the hands of Centre for the sake of commissions and kickbacks. He alleged that in the name of Polavaram project, the Chief Minister has earned crores of rupees.
Tulasi Reddy demanded the government to complete the project by 2018-19 at any cost and asked the Centre to bear the total cost of the project under Section 90 of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act-2014 and not from the AP budget.
He demanded the government to pay the compensation to displaced people as per the Land Acquisition (Amendment) Act 2013 and rehabilitation programme. DCCB former chairman Karatam Rambabu participated in the meeting.
