Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) Karmica Sangham president N Surender Reddy and general secretary YV Ramakrishna Reddy alleged that APTDC executive director M Balasubramanyam Reddy had resorted to irregularities and misused his power during the past few years.
The two leaders alleged here on Tuesday that the state government had not taken action against Balasubramanyam Reddy and other officials in boat accident case in which 22 tourists were killed in Krishna river on November 22 and instead suspended seven lower level staff and officers for the mishap.
In a press release, Karmika Sangham leaders said the higher officials knew about the illegal boat operations in Krishna river but never tried to stop. They further stated that if the government conducts inquiry with the call data of the executive director, connections between the private boat operators and executive director would be exposed. They said the executive director had taken four rooms in the Berm Park, Bhavanipuram, and been using since 2016 April and not paid rent, food expenses to the tune of Rs 36 lakh to the APTDC.
They said if the rooms are allotted to other customers, the APTDC would have got lakhs of rupees income during the one- and-a-half-year.
The two leaders alleged that the government is neglecting the regular employees of the APTDC and encouraging the officers working on a contract basis.
They demanded that the government immediately release DA arrears to the regular staff and take action against the contract officials who resorted to many irregularities for the past few years.
They said the Karmika Sangham had made written complaint to the higher officials about the misuse of power by M Balasubramanyam Reddy but there was no response from the government.
They alleged that the government is not sanctioning vehicle advances, leave encashment and house building advance to the regular employees and instead harassing the staff for petty reasons.
They said these advances and expenses of regular employees cost less than Rs 15 lakh per year. The alleged the government is harassing, transferring and suspending the regular employees who had been working for the past 25 years.
