Tirupati: With the exponential growth of disruptive technologies in the last four years, the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu felt the need to provide a system of disruptive way of education in place of conventional education, said IT Advisor and Special Chief Secretary to the Government of AP, J A Chowdary.
Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Chowdary said tsunami of technologies is coming up and it is important to see that students are not washed away by it. There are mainly four types of disruptive technologies - cyber technology, Blockchain technology, analytics and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
“The Andhra Pradesh government wants to introduce four schools in the four technologies. On an experimental basis, two schools have been started under IIDT (International Institute of Digital Technologies), first-of-its-kind. They are Cyber Technology and Business Analytics, which have been started at a temporary campus at SV University. They are modelled after IIIT, Hyderabad and ISB, Hyderabad, to provide deep digital knowledge to students in one year under residential mode,” he said.
He said in the one year course, 11 months would be instruction and one month would be internship and added that though it was expected that freshers would join the course, candidates from software companies had resigned their jobs and joined these courses. The pedagogy and course content will keep changing depending on the needs of industries, he stated.
Chowdary said now the first batch students were in their 10th month of the course and already, more than 50 per cent of them had secured jobs under campus placements. Another 20 companies were showing interest to recruit them and within one month, 100 per cent placements would be completed.
He proudly said that even before one year of its inception, the school of Analytics in IIDT had secured 4th rank in the country among all Analytics schools. The remaining two schools also will be started very soon, he added. In January 2018, the first graduation ceremony would be held at the incubation centre near Tirupati Airport for which Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will attend.
The admissions for the next batch will start during January-February and interested students can visit www.iidt.edu.in. Presently there were 29 students in Cyber Security and 22 in Analytics stream, he said. N T Arun Kumar, who will take charge as the Director General of IIDT shortly, said that the vision is clear to make it a leading technological institute in the world and courses would be designed in that direction.
