Amaravati: Two sisters attempted suicide by consuming pesticide at AP Secretariat on Tuesday. They were identified as Shakira and Fatima. Both are in their 20s. They came to the Secretariat to meet Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to appeal to him to provide their father's job to anyone in their family. As the security denied them entry into the Secretariat, they tried to attempt suicide.

The police immediately shifted them to a hospital in Mangalagiri of Guntur district and their condition is stated to be critical. Source said the two women are residents of Nandyal in Kurnool district. Their father had worked in agriculture department and died when he was in service. The two had also reportedly made suicide attempts four times in two months as their appeals were ignored by government officials.
