Kurnool: Joint Collector Prasanna Venkatesh has warned Sub-Registrars of taking stringent action against them if they collect extra money from applicants more than the charges fixed by the State government. The Joint Collector held a review meeting with Sub-Registrars in his chambers here on Wednesday. He directed them to process the applications within the time limit prescribed by the government.

Prasanna Venkatesh stated that he had received several complaints against Sub-Registrars that they are delaying to issue Encumbrance Certificates (ECs) and Register of Holdings (RoHs) and collecting hefty amounts for the services they are providing to applicants. The JC warned to take action against Sub-Registrars if they fail to issue ECs and ROHs within 24 hours.

He also instructed them to send him a weekly report furnishing details of the applications pending and the penalty to be paid so that he could impose penalties on the officials concerned. District In-Charge Registrar Mahabub Basha brought to the notice of the Joint Collector that the department is taking steps to appoint staff in front and back offices to eliminate the role of document writers.
