Visakhapatnam: The officials of various departments, including the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, the Minority and Kapu Corporations, are facing tough times to make sure that cent per cent loans are sanctioned to the eligible beneficiaries who applied for loans to launch various self-employment schemes with government subsidy. The government is insisting that the officials make sure that the banks grant financial aid to all the eligible candidates. However, the banks are not coming forward for sanctioning of the loans.

District Collector Pravin Kumar directed the heads of various departments to take responsibility in giving financial help from banks to the beneficiaries. He fixed November 30 as the deadline to achieve the target of sanctioning 100 per cent loans in the district. All the welfare related schemes received as many as 18,743 applications for sanctioning of loans under various schemes.

However, the banks gave consent to only 9,622 candidates and still 9,184 candidates are running from pillar to post for getting loans sanctioned. Responding on the issue, Collector Pravin Kumar directed the officials of the departments concerned to take up the responsibility and take them to the banks for sanctioning of the loans.

“The state government is keen on the implementation of welfare schemes and insisted that the bankers and officials to coordinate. However, the administration has information that the some of the bankers are not cooperating with the administration and troubling the candidates by not sanctioning the loans. If the bankers did not cooperate, we will recommend to the government and state-level bankers committee to take stringent action against such bank officials,” the District Collector warned.

Meanwhile, under the ‘Rythu Ratham’ scheme, the government sanctioned 700 tractors to the district. The Collector also directed the agriculture department to coordinate with bankers for sanctioning of loans for the tractors. Some of the bankers, while speaking to the media also complained that they were being pestered by MLAs and other influential leaders to get the loans sanctioned.
