“Travel agencies are playing a vital role in promoting tourism and to achieve better goals in publicising tourist spots there is an urgent need to encourage experienced travel agents,” said District Collector Kona Sasidhar.

He was speaking at the inaugural function of Travel Home branch here on Wednesday. He asked the tourist operators to popularise tourism in the district since Guntur was famous for various ancient, historical, religious and natural locations. A proper tourism plan would enhance the number of tourists and revenue in the capital region, he added.
Himansu Shukla, Managing Director of Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation said that the cooperation of tourism operators was essential for the development of tourism sector. He suggested that the Travel Home should expand through its sister concern tourist guide certification programme and tourist chapter training programmes in the state.
Madhava Reddy, managing director of Travel Home and others participated in the inauguration.
