Amravati: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has decided to give five percent reservations to Kapu’s. This issue has been pending for over three decades.

The cabinet which met here on Friday and discussed the report submitted by Manjunath Commission decided to give reservations to Kapu, Telaga, Balija and Ontari communities. A new category BC F category will be created for them. This was one of the promises made by AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu during his padayatra.

The AP cabinet will meet again on Saturday and Chief Minister will announce it in the State Assembly. A bill is also likely to be introduced and once it is passed in Assembly it will be sent to the centre. If the centre gives its nod, reservations will come into effect.
