Amaravati: TD MLAs have reprimanded the official machinery and ministers’ peshis for their negligent attitude in attending the queries and letters sent to them from MLAs. During the question hour in Assembly on Thursday, several MLAs took serious exception to the attitude of the bureaucrats and officers in AP Secretariat and districts, in not responding to their letters and not even acknowledging the queries.

During the question hour, MLA Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy alleged that no officer or bureaucrat in the state was acknowledging their letters. “We are making rounds to offices for 20 days for movement of one file and the officials are not giving any reply to us even at MRO and MDO level.

We are not in a position to show our faces to the public in our constituencies,” he said. He also alleged that same is the case with the ministers’ peshis.

Senior MLA Gauthu Shyamsundar Sivaji said it was shame to us to opt Right to Information Act to get replies from government, but the officials were not responding to it too.

Kuna Ravikumar, BJP MLA P Vishnu Kumar Raju and other MLAs supported the contention of Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy. Ravikumar said bureaucrats were not giving appointments to MLAs and making them wait for 2-3 hours at their chambers.

Bandaru urged the Speaker to address the issue, by placing the issue before the minister for legislative affairs Yanamala Ranakrishnudu, and also Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. After listening to the MLAs’ grievances, Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao suggested to the minister to address the issue, on priority basis.

Agreeing with the MLAs arguments, minister for legislative affairs Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said the issue would be brought to the notice of the Chief Minister.
