Vizianagaram: Markets were flooded with the Agency area vegetables as the temperatures came down in the past few days. The winter is the most favourable season for cauliflower and the crop gives good yield during November, December and January.

Areas like Salur, Pachipenta, RB Puram, Kurupam, Jiyammavalasa and GL Puram are surrounded by hills and the temperature is much lesser than the other areas of the district during winter. The farmers of these areas are cultivating vegetables in large quantities and exporting them to other states like Odisha, Chhattisgarh and to Vizag, Rajamahendravaram and some other areas and earning good income.

The major vegetable market at Ramabhadrapuram is cramming with these farmers and buyers. Now, each flower is being sold at Rs 15 to Rs 20 and it will come down to Rs 5 to Rs 8 in next few days. Even the caterers, hoteliers and hostels are preferring to buy these vegetables.

Speaking to The Hans India, K Simhachalam of RB Puram said: “I have grown cauliflower in 35 cents of land and getting good yield and selling them at market, earning Rs 1,000 daily. I think that the price would remain high for another two weeks and later it would come down. Anyhow, I am expecting good income this season”.
