Andhra University signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with INS Vishwakarma of Indian Navy on the university campus here on Friday.

Visakhapatnam: Andhra University signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with INS Vishwakarma of Indian Navy on the university campus here on Friday.

With this MoU, Andhra University will offer three-year B Sc degree course in ship building and hall maintenance to the Navy sailors. In the presence of Andhra University Vice-Chancellor G Nageswara Rao, Registrar V Uma Maheshwara Rao and INS Vishwakarma Commanding Officer Commodore Ajaygule signed the MoU papers.

After exchanging the agreement papers, Vice-Chancellor Nageswara Rao said: “Already, we have been offering diploma, certificate courses. But soon courses in law for the staff of Indian Navy, too, will be offered.”

Later, Acharya Nagarjuna University Vice-Chancellor A Rajendra Prasad said in future more number of courses should be offered to defence personnel.

Commodore Ajaygule thanked the university for introducing new courses and giving training to defence staff. Varsity Rector K Gayatri Devi, AUCE Principal PS Avadhani, Commander AS Parvikar, Lieutenant Elijabeth, Academic Dean K Niranjan and others were present.

On the occasion, certificates were handed over to the Navy personnel who pursued short-term course from Marine Engineering department in Andhra University. The dignitaries praised the staff for successfully completing the course.
