Eluru: Hundreds of students, youth participated in the 5K Run organised by Rotary Club of Eluru Elite on Sunday, which aimed at creating awareness among people to safeguard the AIDS victimised children.

The run was inaugurated by Eluru MP Maganti Venkateswara Rao (Babu) and Eluru MLA Badeti Kota Rama Rao (Bujji) at Badeti Chowk near Muncipal Corporation office here.

The MLA, MP garlanded the statue of Badeti Venkatramaiah statue in the Badeti Chowk and started the 5K Run by lighting the torch.

Rotary Club of Eluru Elite president Kottu Manoj Kumar along with MLA, MP started the run in the centre. Hundreds of students, youth from all walks of the life participated in the early morning marathon.

The children on skating participated in the marathon run. The marathon went through the main streets of the city and reached Municipal Corporation office.

Speaking on the occasion, MP Maganti Babu and MLA Badeti Bujji called upon the people to safeguard the AIDS victimised orphan children with humanity. They said that such rallies would create awareness among people to take up programmes for the HIV infected children in the society. They commended the Eluru Rotary Club of Elite for taking up the programme in a big way.

Rotary Club of Eluru Elite president Kottu Manoj Kumar said that the club has taken up this programme to create awareness among the people on the poor HIV infected children besides donating liberally to save those children.

MLC Ramu Surya Rao, Agriculture Market Committee chairman Pujari Niranjan, Municipal Corporation Cooption corporator SMR Pedababu, MAAC former Chairman K Ramprasad, Telugu Yuvata president Maganti Ramji, Rotary Club members participated in the
programme.
