Tirupati: A five-member gang of ATM cards cloning and withdrawing cash was arrested by Palamaner police on Saturday. According to Chittoor SP Rajasekhar Babu, a seven-member gang from Tamil Nadu, Mumbai, Sri Lanka had cloned the ATM cards from Palamaner SBI ATM near RTC bus stand on September 29. Later the gang withdraw Rs 1.58 lakh from the account of Sajidkhan of Vinayakapuram, Palamaner.

Based on victim Sajidkhan’s complaint, police had started investigation.The accused collected ATM cards information by cloning at Chinthamani, Karnataka and Renigunta of Chittoor district also. Through cloning they made duplicate ATM cards and withdraw money Rs 12.5 lakh from various saving bank accounts of SBI, Palamaner and other places.

They draw money from Chennai ATM kiosks through cloning ATM cards. However, the police tracked the offenders with CCTV footage and their call data. On Saturday, the police arrested 5 members of gang out of 7 near highway at Palamaner.

The accused were identified as Niranjan,37, Mohiddin, 25, MS Rakshit,28, A Suresh,26, and Tamilarasan,25 belongs to Krishnagiri district Tamil Nadu. Alfredbala of Sri Lanka and Umesh of Mumbai are yet to be apprehended. The police have seized Rs 12.5 lakh, ATM cloning machines, mobile phones and one Innova car from their possession.
