Introducing the resolution in the House on Saturday, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said the inclusion of Boya community would not affect the present reservations for Tribal communities.

He said the demand on inclusion of Valmiki Boya community into SC category has been there in the State for several decades. “The Valmiki Boya community is already being considered as Scheduled Tribe in some States. We are also extending support to the long pending demand of Valmiki Boya community in the State,” he said.

The State Assembly adopted a resolution considering the Valmiki Boya community as a part of 33 tribal communities in the State and requested the Union government to extend ST reservation to Valmiki Boyas without affecting the present reservation quota of STs.

Minister for Rural Housing Kalava Srinivasulu said the tribal communities would not be affected with the inclusion of Valmimki Boya community into ST category.

“The Valmiki Boya community have been exploited for decades and they have given no importance by political parties.
