Kurnool: A Class VIII student drowned at Alur on Friday. The deceased was identified as Kurva Raghu, 13, a resident of Alur. According to sources, some students of Alur have gone to nearby Alur Branch Canal (ABC) for swimming. All the students returned to their house except Kurva Raghu after swimming.
The anxious parents began to enquire about Raghu’s whereabouts with other students who accompanied him for swimming. Of not getting satisfactory response, the perplexed parents began to search alongside of Alur Branch Canal. After some distance, the parents found their son’s body floating. After retrieving the body, they found some injuries on his head. It is said, Raghu might have received those injuries from the stones beneath the canal while diving. However, without lodging any complaint, the parents completed the burial rites.
When asked about the incident with the Alur police station, Circle Inspector Abdul Ghouse said that none from the deceased family lodged a complaint with us in this regard.
