Nellore: Albeit the State Government had aimed at recruiting staff members in higher learning institutions such as varsities for supporting the needs, authorities of Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) reportedly failed to comply the rule of reservation according to directions laid down in the G.O. 151 giving a blow to the jobless youth.

It may be recalled that the State government gave nod for recruitment of vacant posts other than for core categories. If the posts exceed 13, reservations have to be made for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and other Backward Classes as per norms. There is no relaxation of rules for posts being filled under outsourcing quota.

But the university authorities violated the rules while filling the posts of Junior Assistants, Record Assistants, Office Subordinates, Lab Assistants, Sweepers, Gardener, Field Assistant etc., students complain.

Officials engaged an outsourcing agency only for 10 posts at a time to avoid reservation rule. Candidates from nearby Prakasam district were given jobs giving scope for unrest among the local unemployed youth.

“The varsity had not followed the rule of reservation in the recent recruitment process that was actually started from July this year,” said Jonnalagadda Sudheer, President of VSU Vidyarthi Samakhya.

Ten members for posts such as Senior, Junior Assistants, and others were recruited through Pinakini Outsourcing Agency located at KVR Petrol Bunk disregarding the rule of reservation.

The Head of the Agency Malyadri also confirmed that they had done the recruitment only for 10 posts in the ratio of 1:3. Sources in the varsity said senior officials of the varsity had selected candidates for the posts and handed over the list to the Agency as part of routine process. It was clearly said that around 20 candidates were from a single community.

“Why the varsity officials had failed to complete the process in a single drive? This shows possible malpractices in recruitment and there is a need to look into the issue,” said Pathan Ashik Ali Khan from Janasena student’s wing.
