Kadapa: The delay in settling rehabilitation and resettlement package causing unrest among submerged villagers living in Gandikota reservoir whenever water was released for agriculture operations. There was long demand from Korrapadu for securing compensation from the government under R&R package.
But due to various reasons, the R&R package was kept pending. It is learnt that collector has directed the Jammalamadugu RDO to settle the issue. “We have brought the issue to notice of district authorities several times but in vain. We are suffering a lot as snakes and scorpions enter our houses whenever water was released from Gandikota Reservoir,” told A Ramasubba Reddy, a
villager to The Hans India.
An official on the condition of anonymity told The Hans India, due to lack of clarity in the documents submitted by some villagers related to their houses and lands, the implementation of R&R package was delayed.
