Kakinada: Rural MLA Pilli Anantha Lakshmi has said there is need to establish a separate hostel for the differently-abled persons in the district.

On the occasion of International Day for the Disabled Persons on Sunday, the MLA participated as a chief guest in a meeting organised by the Uma Educational and Technical Society (Uma Mano Vikasa Kendram) to celebrate the disabled day at the Vakalapudi village.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA said that she had an affiliation with the Uma Mano Vikasa Kendra for the past twenty years. She also said that she would talk to the concerned minister to establish a separate hostel for the disabled here in this district.

Executive Director of the society SP Reddy said that there were many laws for the disabled persons but all the laws were not being implemented fully to benefit disabled persons. He further said that there were problems in receiving the fruits of development to the disabled persons. He urged the government to support the disabled for their development. He informed that they distributed all the necessary supplies with the help of Give India Organisation, Mumbai.

Deputy Director of Disabled Welfare KVV Satyanarayana and District TDP secretary Pilli Satyanarayana spoke on the occasion.

Later, the MLA distributed 12 tri-cycles, three two-wheeled carts and 10 artificial legs to the disabled persons worth Rs 1.3 lakh.

Matta Prakash Goud, P Suresh Kumar, K Narayana Reddy, Smt S Uma Reddy and others participated in the disabled day celebrations.
