Ongole: MP YV Subbareddy, announced that the Central government has selected Prakasam district as the model district under the Rural Integration of Communication Technology programme.

He appreciated the district postal senior superintendent TAV Sarma, who met him on Sunday, and asked him to take necessary steps to implement the programme in the district. He asked the postal officer to make arrangements to provide online services in all branch post offices and provide savings accounts and Jan Dhan Accounts to the NREGS workers to get their wages in time. The MP also promised that railway reservation service would be provided in Kandukur, Podili, Kanigiri and Addanki post offices after discussing with the railways general manager.

Subbareddy asked Sarma to select Bandi Veligandla village in Darsi mandal under Sansad Adarsa Gram Yojana and provide rural postal insurance scheme to the villagers. He also informed the superintendent that the passport officials team would visit the Ongole head post office for joint inspection to establish Passport Seva Kendra in Ongole. He assured Sarma that his request to provide internet facility to Pedagollapalli, Mogallur, Sankhavaram, Peddarikatla, Ullapalem and Vallur sub post offices would be discussed with the BSNL general manager and see the the service is provided immediately.
