Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu asked the TDP legislators to be cautious over the developments in the districts in the backdrop of agitations by some organisations as some political parties and leaders were provoking Backward Castes against the Kapu reservation for their political gains.

The Chief Minister held a teleconference on Sunday to alert the party legislators and made several suggestions on how to tackle the situation in districts. Naidu reiterated that the BCs would not be affected with Kapu quota as a separate category had been created for them. “The government has taken all necessary measures to avoid any injustice to the BCs. We fulfilled the long pending demand on Kapu reservation as per our promise to the community and three other sub-castes. We also promised BCs that they would not be affected due to the Kapu quota and also the same was fulfilled,” he said. He suggested to the party leaders that they have to explain to BCs that the Telugu Desam Party was committed to the welfare of BCs and no injustice would be done to them. “TDP never treated the Backward Castes as vote bank and strived to uplift those communities,” he said.

Some party leaders complained about TDP MLA and BC leader R Krishnaiah, who raised his voice against the Kapu reservation. The leaders also reportedly suspected the hand of Opposition party behind the agitations of BC organisations against Kapu reservation.

However, Naidu entrusted the responsibility of ensuring coordination between the party leaders to Ministers Kala Venkata Rao, K Atchannaidu and senior leader T Dasaradha Janardhan and asked them to monitor the developments regularly in districts and alert party leaders.
