Lok Adalats providing speedy justice: Judge
Lok Adalats are providing speedy justice to the people, said Principal District and Sessions’ Judge and Chairperson of DLSA VB Nirmala Geethamba.
Srikakulam: Lok Adalats are providing speedy justice to the people, said Principal District and Sessions’ Judge and Chairperson of DLSA VB Nirmala Geethamba.
“We organised 562 Lok Adalats from January 2016 to October 2017 in the district”, she said. Over 2,595 pre-litigation cases were settled and another 15,347 petty cases were settled in 562 Lok Adalats across the district.
These are otherwise known as summary trial cases (STC) which are normally being tried by the judicial magistrate of Courts of Judicial Magistrate of Second Class .
Another 5,423 cases, which were pending in regular courts, were settled at Lok Adalats. In all, 23,365 cases were settled in 22 months in the district by the DLSA and on an average every month 1,062 cases were settled.
“Pending cases regarding motor vehicle accidents, matrimonial, banking issues and other matters can be settled in Lok Adalats”, she explained.
