West Godavari women emerge champs
The women’s team of West Godavari won the Andhra Pradesh State Weightlifting Championship which ended at the indoor stadium here on Sunday. The championship for the boy’s team in sub-junior and junior categories went to East Godavari district. Vizianagaram district secured seniors\' championship.

The AP State Weightlifting Championships concluded on Sunday here at the Indoor stadium. Eluru MLA Badeti Kota Rama Rao (Bujji) who was the chief guest on the occasion and assured them that the first floor to the present weightlifting building would be constructed soon.
National weightlifting coach Badeti Venkatramaiah, AP Weightlifting Association president and general secretary K Suryanarayana, A Satyanarayana and others participated in the valedictory function of the championships.
In the three-day long championships, West Godavari women displayed their superb performance to win the team championship. In the sub-juniors, juniors, seniors, West Godavari women stood in first place, whereas Kadapa secured second place in sub-juniors and juniors.
East Godavari stood as runners-up in the seniors. In the boy’s sub-juniors and juniors category, East Godavari won the first place. In sub-juniors category, Kadapa stood in second place and West Godavari stood in second place in juniors’ category.
In the seniors’ category, Visakhapatnam won the first place and Krishna won the second place. In Juniors’ category, K Neelam Raju of Guntur was adjudged as the best lifter while B Vishnuvardhan adjudged as strongman. In the sub-juniors category, Varun of Guntur district adjudged as the best lifter and strongman. The chief guests gave away the medals to the winners on the occasion.
