Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation staff lands in ACB net
Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths caught R Srinivas,assistant tax collector of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), who demanded and accepting a bribe of Rs 80,000 from a complainant M Srinivas Reddy at Madhuranagar in ward number 4 on Monday.
Visakhapatnam: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths caught R Srinivas,assistant tax collector of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), who demanded and accepting a bribe of Rs 80,000 from a complainant M Srinivas Reddy at Madhuranagar in ward number 4 on Monday.
Srinivas demanded money for doing an official favour for processing and to get tax assessment of newly constructed building of the complainant. Vexed by the demand from Srinivas, the complainant approached ACB.
The ACB sleuths laid a trap and asked the complainant to handover the bribe amount to accused official. The ACB sleuths caught the official when he was receiving the money. According to ACB officials, R Srinivas collected the amount for six others including the bill collector, one clerk, revenue inspector, revenue officer, assistant commissioner and zonal commissioner.
The bribe amount was to be shared by all the seven and Rayana Srinivas was assigned to collect the amount. The ACB teams continuing raids on Srinivas houses and his relative homes at Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam and East Godavari. The accused was taken into custody.
