Gooty (Anantapur): YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy described Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu as a ‘cheat and liar’ who never bothered to put his promises into action.

Addressing a public meeting here on the first day of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra in Anantapur district on Monday, Jagan read out the promises made by Naidu and then asked the people to give their opinion.

He drew a parallel between the election promises made by Naidu and his performance during the last 4 years. The YSRCP supremo asked the people if they wanted a liar and deceiver as Chief Minister again.

Jagan said the model school teachers earlier in the day complained to him that they were not paid salaries for the last five months. The municipal workers informed him that they were not getting salaries for the last three months.

Even the cooks of mid-day meal scheme and the 108 Ambulance staff too complained of not receiving their salaries. Jaganmohan had a dig at the Janmabhoomi committees, describing them as a 'Mafia' who collected bribes for getting works done. He even sought to know as to what happened to the promise of giving 3 cents of land to every homeless person.

He said the poor who were getting monthly current bills of Rs 50 during the YSR regime, were now getting bills between Rs 500 and 700. He wondered how the poorer sections can pay such bills. He criticised the TDP government for its failure to keep the promise of paying monthly dole of Rs 2,000 to each unemployed youth.

He described as a big joke Naidu asking the Kapus and Boyas to celebrate as the Assembly passed resolutions providing reservation to them. The Assembly passed resolutions even in the past, Jagan pointed out. Does it mean that the issue is over, he questioned. He said the Centre has to take Constitutional steps for the resolutions to get Parliament approval and finally make a law.

He called upon the people not to believe Naidu anymore. Before the next elections, he will once again come up with new set of promises, Jagan said. He said that YSR government completed 80 percent of Handri Neeva works but the present government could not complete 20 percent of remaining works in 3 years.

Earlier, Jagan arrived at Basinepalle in in Gooty mandal of Anantapur district on the 26th day of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra (PSY) on Monday. He had so far covered Kadapa and Kurnool districts. The YSRCP chief was received by thousands of supporters and admirers including women and students at Basinepalle village. The nearly 10-km walk up to Gooty witnessed scores of people meeting Jaganmohan Reddy and representing their problems and sharing their woes.

It took 5 hours for the YSRCP president to walk 10 km to reach Gooty town as his walk was continuously interrupted by different sections of people trying to meet him. Chandragiri MLA Chevi Reddy Bhaskar Reddy and Uravakonda MLA Visveshwara Reddy and other YSRCP leaders accompanied the YSRCP chief.

Some women complained to Jagan that DWCRA loans were yet to be waived. At several places students displayed placards urging Jaganmohan Reddy to demand special status from the Centre if he came to power in 2019.

Jagan took every opportunity to greet people and entertain those who came to submit a memorandum to him or share their woes with him. The people braved the scorching sun to walk along with him and express their solidarity.
