Eluru: The BC Welfare Association leaders and activists besieged the District Collectorate here on Tuesday in protest against the resolution in the Assembly, including the Kapu community in BC list. At one stage there was a scuffle between police and the activists, which led to tension at the Collectorate. The police took several activists into their custody to ease the tension.

The BC Welfare Association leaders and activists took out a rally to the Collectorate to stage a dharna in protest against the government’s decision. The activists staged the dharna at the Collectorate for some time. As a precautionary measure, the police force has been deployed at the Collectorate.

The BC activists and leaders tried to enter the Collectorate road where barricades were erected by the police. The activists pushed the barricades, wired fencing to enter the the Collectorate. However, police force obstructed them from entering the Collectorate. A scuffle ensued between them. The activists raised slogans against the government for including the Kapu community in BC list.

For half an hour, the scuffle took place between the police and the BC activists. The police took 13 activists and leaders into their custody and shifted them to Three Town police station. BC leaders Vartanapalli Kasi Visweswara Rao, Chilakalapalli Katlayya, Kasani Ramesh Goud, Ukkusuri Gopalakrishna, Lanka Venkateswara Rao, M Lakshmana Swamy, Mallipudi Raju and others took part in the protest.
