Three Maoists surrendered before Superintendent of Police Visakha Rural Rahul Dev Sharma here on Wednesday. Vanthala Sita alias Vanaja, G Eeswara Rao and Vanthala Sobhan left the Maoist party and surrendered before the police.

Visakhapatnam: Three Maoists surrendered before Superintendent of Police Visakha Rural Rahul Dev Sharma here on Wednesday. Vanthala Sita alias Vanaja, G Eeswara Rao and Vanthala Sobhan left the Maoist party and surrendered before the police.

According to Rahul Dev Sharma, Vanaja, a native of Yeguvanambhi village in Saluru mandal in Vizianagaram district joined Maoists in 2012.
She worked as Yeerrigedda pocket militia member, Galikonda Dalam member, second CRC member for two years and first CRC member for one year. She was involved in exchange of fire in Palasamudram. She also worked in Korukonda Dalam.

She underwent training in using weapons in Odisha. G Eeswara Rao hailing from Budaralla panchayat in Koyyuru mandal worked in Galikonda Dalam from 2005 to 2008, later, shifted to East Division and worked as the Andhra-Odisha border member.

He was involved in Nallabilli exchange of fire incident in 2005, encounter at Kannavaram in 2007 and attacks on various houses for essential commodities and other incidents. Another member Vanthala Sobhan of Nurmathi panchayat in G Madugula mandal joined the Maoists in 2003 and worked in Pedabayalu Dalam in Andhra-Odisha border.
