Tirupati: Dr BR Ambedkar’s death anniversary was observed by many leaders, institutions and organisations on Wednesday. In a function held at Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University (SVVU) here, Vice-Chancellor Dr Y Haribabu has garlanded the portrait of the Amdedkar. Dean Dr Chandrasekhar Rao and SC, ST Cell Chairman Dr Rambabu Naik also offered floral tributes.

They remembered the contributions of Ambedkar to Indian Constitution. Registrar Dr Srinivasa Rao, teaching and non-teaching staff also took part. In another programme held at Regional Agricultural Research Station (RARS), Associate Research Director Dr TCM Naidu paid rich tributes to Dr Ambedkar. “He was the role model for many who proved that by hard work and determination one can reach any heights.

While continuing his education, he fought against the caste discrimination in the society. He became the first Law Minister in the independent India and got the rare honour of becoming the part of the Constitution drafting committee,” Dr Naidu averred. Agricultural Polytechnic Vice-Principal Dr MV Ramana, Dr T Murali Krishna, Dr Ramakrishna Rao, Dr Prathima, Dr K John, Dr NP Eswar Reddy and others were present.

The Associate Dean of SV Agricultural College Dr V Rajarajeswari lauded Ambedkar as he was responsible for empowerment of women. Agricultural University Executive Council member Dr SR Koteswara Rao and Dr M Sekhar Reddy were present.

PCC Secretary Penubala Chandrasekhar led the death anniversary programmes in Satyavedu organised by the Congress. The rights which Ambedkar has provided to the weaker sections and downtrodden have made their lives bright, he said.
