Eluru: Superintendent of Police M Ravi Prakash on Wednesday called upon Home Guards to discharge their duties to the utmost satisfaction of people with commitment.

He was the chief guest at the 55th Home Guards Raising Day celebrations conducted at Police Parade Grounds here on Wednesday. Tthe SP said that as many as 851 home guards were discharging their duties and of which, 438 are in Eluru, 65 in Jangareddigudem, 192 in Bhimavaram, 132 in Tadepalligudem and 24 in Tanuku town.

He praised the Home Guards’ services in maintaining traffic, law and order order. He said a dormitory was constructed in Eluru for the Home Guards who are visiting Eluru on duties. He said the department is collecting Rs 20 from each Home Guard for their welfare schemes and of which, Rs 10 would be sent to the Central Fund and another Rs 10 will be credited to District Home Guards Welfare Fund.

The SP presented mementoes to Home Guards for their outstanding performance while discharging duties. Additional SP (Armed Reserve) M Mahesh Kumar, Special Branch DSP P Bhaskar Rao, SB CI S Kondala Rao, Eluru women police station DSP Pydeswara Rao, Eluru Traffic DSP A Srinivasa Rao, SC/ST DSP Vijaya Sekhar, Narsapur DSP T Prabhakara Babu, Eluru CCS DSP Satyanarayana and Eluru DSP K Eswara Rao participated in the programme.
