The Director General of ACB RP Thakur has said that corruption is the most burning issue in the country and in the State as well. Tirupati: The Director General of ACB RP Thakur has said that corruption is the most burning issue in the country and in the State as well. Everyone have been affected by it in someway or the other, he observed. Speaking at the sensitisation programme on ‘Corruption and its Impact on Society’, conducted by ACB, Tirupati Division at Sri PadmavathiMahilaVisvavidyalayam (SPMVV) on Saturday, the DG said, “Corruption is rampant even in education sector. There were malpractices in admissions, awarding marks etc.
People were being tortured with corruption, which will stop all happiness”. Recalling a case, the DG observed, “it is sad that some high ranking officer who was involved in corruption was booked. But from public point of view, it should not be allowed”.
He further added that the legal system is to be improved and transparency is to be maintained for the sake of public. Making the society corruption-free will lay the platform for developing. “ACB is working on the demand side of the corruption and people on the whole should not support the supply side.
Then only corruption can be controlled from both the ends” observed Thakur. By making the students aware of the evil effects of corruption, the message of anti corruption can be spread to the elders as well.” He appealed to people to report the corruption related activities to the ACB.
PMVV Rector Prof V Uma has said that corruption cannot be seen only from monetary aspect but it is also an abuse of power for private gains. Corruption is a crime, which haunts successive generations, and it is witnessed in areas such as political, economy, social and environment etc. It also results in a week governance, organised criminal network, trafficking and other illegal activities.
Tirupati Sub-Collector Nishanth Kumar spoke on how corruption began and explained its impact across the world. Lack of knowledge on how the government works is the root cause of the corruption. SV University V-C Prof A Damodaram pointed out that everyone thinks that bribes are common which has become a social norm.
Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetham Registrar Prof Ch P Satyanarayana also spoke. ACB, Tirupati DSP A Sankar Reddy participated. DG, RP Thakur administered oath to all the participants that they will fight against corruption.
