Speaking at the district-level awareness programme on the statute held here on Saturday, they said that the rulers of the country are the people, while the officials and people’s representatives are servants of the public.

The official machinery runs with the tax revenue contributed by the people. The rural people are getting cheated because of lack of awareness of the laws of the land. Dr BR Ambedkar gave the right to people to demand what they want from the government and the right has been enshrined in the constitution, they said.

Every citizen has a right to know information. Moreover, it is easy to obtain information with just one application, they said. They said that the awareness programme commenced with the villages in Nallamala forest zone. They highlighted various aspects of the constitution, including various Articles.

Noted industrialist Dr Naganna summarised the constitution as the comprehensive working of the Legislature, Executive and Judiciary. The participants in the programme include Sridhar, Sanyar Khan, Siva Kumar and the rural youth.
