Vijayawada: Lok Satta founder Jayaprakash Narayana said the lack of coordination between the Centre, State governments and contractors was prime reason for stalling of Polavaram project works. Even though works were initiated after some delay, but the progress is good, he said.

Speaking to media here on Monday, he requested the political parties not to politicise the issue. All the parties should stand to protect the interests of state and complete the project on time, he requested. He also opined the completion of project is possible as per target by 2019.

Narayana said the governments are neglecting the important fields like agriculture, health and education even the huge funds are available. The Lok Satta team would meet Chief Minister N Chandrababu on December 14 to discuss on the important issues, he added.

He said lack of proper facilities, infrastructure and qualified doctors in public health sector is causing loss of lives and wondered how the state governments are not spending the money on important sectors even sufficient share of taxes are receiving from the Centre.

He wondered how the political leader of a party is assuring pension after 45 years. He said parties were making politics as business. As part of Surajya Yatra, he visited hospitals and educational institutions. Loksatta leaders Kamineni Pattabhiramaiah, Ch Vazeer, B Rammohana Rao, B Ashok Kumar and B Babji were present.
