Gold worth 8.5 lakh recovered; 8 arrested
The CCS sleuths arrested an 8-member robbery gang from Proddatur in Kadapa district on Monday and recovered gold worth Rs 8.5 lakh and 1.5 lakh cash from them.
Tirupati: The CCS sleuths arrested an 8-member robbery gang from Proddatur in Kadapa district on Monday and recovered gold worth Rs 8.5 lakh and 1.5 lakh cash from them.
Speaking to the media here on Monday after producing the accused before the media, Urban SP Abhishek Mohanty said Proddatur-based robbery gang led by Nadendla Subhan Basha had entered the house of Surendra Naidu at SV Nagar in Tirupati on November 29 and committed crime by threatening them. They did recce before committing the crime.
The police also arrested two local women, who helped the gang by providing information about the victim’s family. The Urban SP formed four special teams to crack the case. After analysing a lakh mobile phone calls, the CCS police zeroed-in on robbery gang.
The SP stated all the members of the gang were habitual offenders and were involved in robberies and extortion. The police sent the accused to judicial remand.
