Protect us from elephant menace
The tribals and farmers in the district requested the district collector Kalva Dhanunjaya Reddy to protect them from elephant menace. At grievances meet in Srikakulam on Monday, the farmers and tribals reached to collectorate under the aegis of YSRCP general secretary R Shanthi and submitted a memorandum to district collector.
Srikakulam: The tribals and farmers in the district requested the district collector Kalva Dhanunjaya Reddy to protect them from elephant menace. At grievances meet in Srikakulam on Monday, the farmers and tribals reached to collectorate under the aegis of YSRCP general secretary R Shanthi and submitted a memorandum to district collector. “We have been spending sleepless nights for the last 12 years due to elephant menace.
The elephants entered district from Odisha and causing damage to cashew, mango, banana, pineapple, sugarcane, red gram, paddy and other crops in Sitampeta, Kotturu, Bhamini, Hiramandal, LN Peta, Meliaputti and Palakonda mandals,” they said. They requested for enumeration of crop damage and pay compensation for it on a quick pace. The collector assured them to take necessary measures for payment of compensation.
