Atmakur: As many as 35 outsourcing staff employed among the over 200 by the Kurnool District Cooperative Central (KDCC) Bank as collectors have been dismissed from service following a fraud allegedly committed by the chairman, the CEO, besides two directors.

The stage is set for the removal of 160 more. An amount of Rs 1.5 crore has been realised from them. The 35, who have been duped claim that the chairman and CEO of the society are involved in the alleged cheating and that they have been threatened after filing a case in the High Court.

The victims have also lodged a complaint with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, demanding a judicial inquiry into episode. The sacked employees had secured posts after paying Rs 3 lakh each, as the society has been able to impress them they would have a rosy future.

Many of them had taken loans to pay the amounts. After just under two years they have been rendered jobless. Having realised that they have been cheated, the employees have approached the HC.

Some of the victims Nageswara Rao (working here), Vikram (employed in Velugodu), Sivarammurthy (working in Kurnool) told The Hans India that the society chairman Mallikarjuna Reddy and CEO Ramanjaneyulu had resorted to cheating, resulting in 35 losing their jobs.

They said the chairman and the CEO had sent notices to their houses on December 6 intimating the society’s decision to dismiss them. They alleged that as against the promise salary of Rs 13,000, only Rs 7,000 was paid to them, wondering what was happening to the balance amounts.
They contended that after lodging a complaint on the fraud they have been asked to come to Amaravati to meet Chandrababu Naidu.

‘Death threats have been held out to us,’ they alleged, while expressing apprehension that they feared for their lives from the society chairman and CEO. Among the victims are those belonging to the weaker sections, including Dalits.

They accused the TDP backed society directors Marenna and Sudhakar of being involved in the fraud, while urging the District Collector order a judicial inquiry into the episode to render justice to them.
