Atmakuru: YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy accused Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of being insincere towards Muslims and pointed out that there was not a single Muslim in the State Cabinet to drive his point home.

Taking part in a face-to-face programme with minorities at Mudigubba cross roads in Anantapur district on Tuesday, he announced a monthly salary of Rs 10,000 to Imams and Rs 5,000 to Mouzams. Besides, he promised Rs 15,000 to each temple, church and mosque towards maintenance.

He said Chandrababu Naidu promised constitution of a fund with Rs 2,500 crore for Muslims in his election manifesto, but failed to implement it.
He charged the Chief Minister with not implementing the quota for the Muslims as per the Ranganathan Commission report.

He promised interest-free loans up to Rs 1,00,000, but it remained far from implementation. Not accommodating at least one Muslim in his Cabinet shows the concern of the Chief Minister for Muslims.

Chandrababu had promised Rs 5000 per month to Imams and Rs 3000 to Mouzams a month towards salary, but the promised money was not even given to at least 10 per cent of mosques, the Opposition leader pointed out. Only during YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s regime as the Chief Minister, 4 per cent quota for the Muslims could be implemented, he said.

He also quoted the instance of tuition fee reimbursement for the poor students. The late CM instilled confidence among the people with the implementation of the Arogyasri and ‘108’ ambulance services, he said.

The State government has been reimbursing only Rs 35,000 per student against Rs 1 lakh paid towards the tuition fee. He was skeptical about prompt service by 108 services under the existing regime.

He also alleged that the cost of medical treatment has gone up so much and running into lakhs of rupees to the detriment of the poor. He promised that if the YSRCP is voted to power, the government would foot the cost of professional education of each poor student, paying each student Rs 20,000 per annum towards boarding and mess charges, paying Rs 15,000 to each poor family sending their wards to school.

Announcing reforms in Arogyasri, he said that each treatment exceeding Rs 1,000 will be covered under the health insurance scheme. During the post operation recuperative period, the State government will extend financial assistance to the patients up to any number of months.

The health insurance scheme will be applicable wherever the patient undergoes the treatment whether it is Hyderabad or Bengaluru. He promised Rs 10,000 towards pension for kidney patients since they incur a lot of expenditure towards dialysis.

The monthly pension for the aged will be increased to Rs 2000 and the age for applying pension will be decreased to 45 years. A minority woman told Jagan that her two children died of dengue, but the district minister promised a compensation of Rs 10 lakh, a house and a government job.
