Visakhapatnam: The Andhra Pradesh government has given its nod to fill 357 vacant posts in government polytechnics with B Tech graduates. Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) will shortly release a notification for lecturers’ recruitment, physical directors and librarian posts in the government polytechnics across the AP.

According to official sources, over 1,000 posts are vacant in government polytechnics including all the colleges which were established in 2008 to 2012. Those colleges are running still with temporary staff for the past ten years from 2008. Similarly, the newly established colleges between 2012 to 2017 also does not have enough staff members.

The government had taken a decision in the assembly session to fill the posts soon. According to sources, over 272 lecturers, 50 physical directors and 35 librarian posts will be recruited initially in government polytechnics. Proposals are also approved by the Finance department to recruit 357 posts.

The government will fill the vacant posts in the first quarter of 2018. “I am working as a lecturer in a private polytechnic college at Visakhapatnam after completion of M Tech from Andhra University. We are waiting for government polytechnic lecturers’ recruitment for last ten years. If the notification comes soon we will be lucky,” said C H Jyotsna, Vizianagaram.

“I am working as a contract lecturer in government polytechnic college in Vijayawada for the past five years. We demand the government to regularise our services. But there is no positive response from government. But at least in the present notification, the government should consider our experience and give priority in recruitments,” said K Subramanyam (name changed).
