Cops digitise rowdies’ details
The city police are digitalising the details of rowdies and anti-social elements who are creating law and order problem in the city. The city police already collected the details of more than 400 rowdies in the city.
Vijayawada: The city police are digitalising the details of rowdies and anti-social elements who are creating law and order problem in the city. The city police already collected the details of more than 400 rowdies in the city. So far, the police collected the finger prints and iris and they would be used to track them with the help of digital technology.
Now, the city police began digitisation of the details of rowdies, said Commissioner of Police D Gowtham Sawang. Police are taking stringent action against the rowdies following the directive from Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to curb the activities of anti-social elements particularly rowdies. The Chief Minister gave the fiat when some residents of Vambay Colony told the former about the menace of rowdies in the colony. It may be recalled that the Chief Minister toured the city and interacted with the people in some localities two months ago.
Since then, the city police are organising cordon search in some colonies of the city, including Vambay Colony, YSR Colony in Jakkampudi, New RR Pet and other areas and collecting the details of the suspected people.
Digitised information is useful to track the movement of the rowdies, said the Commissioner of Police. Though there is no organised network of rowdies in the city, some habitual offenders are living at Ajit Singh Nagar, Krishna Lanka, Kotha Peta, YSR Colony, New RR Pet and Vambay Colony and creating problems to the residents. Besides, blade batch gang is also sometimes resorting to offences particularly attacking the people to rob money and valuables. Now, the police are keeping a tight vigil on the blade batch gang.
