ITDA Project Officer (PO) in-charge Muralidhar has said that 1,000 bore wells in Chenchus’ lands will be sunk under the phase-II of NTR Jalasiri scheme at a cost of Rs 10 crore. Disclosing this to newsmen here on Thursday, the PO said that 10,932 acres of land is available under the RoFR and out of which 7,050 acres had no assured irrigation facility.

Srisailam Project: ITDA Project Officer (PO) in-charge Muralidhar has said that 1,000 bore wells in Chenchus’ lands will be sunk under the phase-II of NTR Jalasiri scheme at a cost of Rs 10 crore. Disclosing this to newsmen here on Thursday, the PO said that 10,932 acres of land is available under the RoFR and out of which 7,050 acres had no assured irrigation facility.

Upon requisition, the state government sanctioned 1,000 borewells to irrigate the 7,050 acres under the second phase of NTR Jalasiri. He thanked NTR Jalasiri scheme Joint Commissioner for getting the borewells sanctioned. Lands measuring between 5 and 10 acres would be divided into blocks after a survey by the NREGS to sink borewells.

If water strikes at a depth of up to 200 feet, the borewell will be energised by solar pump sets, otherwise electric pump sets will be installed. He said that the ITDA here has been striving hard to improve the economic well-being of Chenchus. Giving break up, he said that 730 borewells will be dug in Guntur area, 1,880 in Kurnool and 5,057 in Prakasam district.
