The two departments constituted special teams and they will leave the city soon. Sale of spurious drugs came to light in Vijayawada, Guntur, Narasaraopet, Nandyal, Kurnool and other parts of the state during the last few months.

As part of the further investigation, the special teams will go to Delhi, West Bengal and Uttarakhand. The Drugs Control Administration during the recent raids in Nandyal have got specific information about the presence of six more members of drugs racket in West Bengal, Uttarakhand and Delhi.

Meanwhile, the raids on medical shops continued as usual to identify the spurious drugs in the state. Assistant Director of Drugs Control Department S Vijay Kumar told The Hans India that the raids conducted on two medical shops in Vijayawada and one shop in Narasaraopet on Thursday. He said the teams have collected some samples suspecting to be spurious drugs in two shops.

The spurious drugs scam came to light following a complaint lodged by Johnson and Johnson Company in Vijayawada that the sale of some products came down drastically. The DCA and Task Force teams have jointly conducted the raids in many parts of the state and arrested some traders.
