Women thieves held; gold ornaments seized
The City Crime police arrested two women near Jaihind Talkies at Governorpet and recovered Rs 85,000 and gold ornaments worth Rs 1.45 lakh on Thursday. According to crime police, Gantikota Durga alias Gurram Bhavani (40) and her daughter Gurram Ankamma (19) were arrested at Governorpet when they were moving under suspicious circusmstances.
Vijayawada: The City Crime police arrested two women near Jaihind Talkies at Governorpet and recovered Rs 85,000 and gold ornaments worth Rs 1.45 lakh on Thursday. According to crime police, Gantikota Durga alias Gurram Bhavani (40) and her daughter Gurram Ankamma (19) were arrested at Governorpet when they were moving under suspicious circusmstances.
Police informed the duo was involved in six thefts. Bhavani and Ankamma cleverly rob small purses, bags and cash from the auto- rikshaw and bus passengers. They robbed cash in the police station limits of One Town, Krishna Lanka and Vuyyur. They were produced in a court on Thursday and sent to remand.
In another case, the crime police arrested J Sarojini alias Dasari Samrajyam at Governorpet and seized two gold ornaments worth Rs.1.50 lakh from her possession.
The 71-year-old woman hails from Sattenapalli town in Guntur district and she was expert in robbing gold jewellery from women in busy areas. She snatched gold ornaments from women during Koti Deepotsavam held at Swarajya Maidan in Vijayawada in November 2017. Police produced the accused in the court on Thursday.
