Tirupati: The Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) IG M Kantha Rao on Friday explained the functioning Fingerprint Identification Network System (FINS) application. The FINS App was developed to collect the fingerprints from the arrested red sanders smugglers and identify the habitual red sanders smugglers based on their fingerprints.
DGP N Sambasiva Rao had launched the app recently at Amaravati. For the first time, the task force wing has developed the app for the staff working at field-level. This app can be useful to know the personal details of red sanders smugglers.
The IG explained that the task force personnel are provided with tabs for using the app. At present, fingerprints and personal details of 1,300 red sanders smugglers made available in app which were collected from state police fingerprint bureau, the IG added. The task force unit want to collect data of an additional 3,700 smugglers from various sources including jails.
The uniqueness of the app is details of smugglers can be checked in offline mode also. The app will become useful in registering the FIR against the habitual red sanders smugglers with additional information available through app, so that, the accused cannot get bail easily.
The tabs were distributed to the police personnel involved in combing operations. Officials concerned have been conducting training programme to task force staff on usage of app at field level.
