Giddalur: The Giddalur police on Friday arrested a person for trying to cheat government officials by impersonating as an IPS officer. According to Giddalur Circle Inspector V Sriram, Karnati Vinod Kumar Reddy, a native of Vaddamanupalle in Kasinanaya mandal of Kadapa district, did graduation at SVJR College in Giddalur.

He is interested in a career in police and armed forces but failed in tests despite attending coaching for civils and defence forces at Hyderabad and New Delhi.

With his friends and family members enquiring about the results, Vinod Kumar created fake call letters for training in Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie and fake ID cards as an IPS officer and flying officer in Indian Air Force.

After convincing his friends and family that he is an IPS officer, he visited Giddalur police station and tried to check the records. Suspecting the behavior of Vinod Kumar, SI Mallikharjuna took him into custody.
