Srikakulam: Master plan would be prepared for the development of Srikakulam city at an estimated cost of Rs 400 crore with the aid of AMRUT, a Central government sponsored scheme, state government and corporation funds, disclosed Collector K Dhanunjaya Reddy.

Integrated water supply, underground drainage and sewage treatment plant would be included in the plan. In addition to it, four-lane road from Boddepalli Rajagopala Rao Junction to Seven Roads Junction in Srikakulam city was proposed.

For road widening, Rs 27 crore funds were allotted. In the second phase, there is a proposal to widen the road from Navabharat Junction (from national highway) to Seven Roads Junction into four lanes.

Sewage treatment plant was sanctioned for the city with Rs 28 crore funds and officials are busy in identifying suitable location for it. Municipal Commissioner PA Sobha, public health superintending engineer BH Srinivasa Rao, health officer Dr Davala Bhaskar Rao, municipal engineer G Venkareswara Rao, assistant city planner GSV Devakumar accompanied the Collector.
