Vijayawada: The victims of AgriGold staged 30-hour massive protest in the name of Satyagraha at Hanumantharaya Grandhalayam at Gandhinagar here on Monday. A large number of family members of AgriGold victims participated in the protest.

On this occasion, CPI State Secretary K Ramakrishna said the 152 agents and customers committed suicide so far, but the government has been neglecting the issue. He said that the government had sanctioned Rs 5 crore for paying compensation to victims, but no one has been given refund so far.

AgriGold Depositors Welfare Association president Muppala Bhargavasri said that they would intensify the agitation against the government, if it fails to do justice to the victims immediately. He said that they would lay siege to the Chief Minister’s Office and residence. The government has given assurance by creating belief in the depositors. But they did not get any benefit, he lamented.

They would continue the agitation until they get justice. Though the company is having Rs 20,000 crore assets, the government has failed to pay amounts to the depositors, he regretted.
